The only good BSOD

Well the (short) story. A couple of weeks ago I was asked to make a short (15 mins or so) presentation to some of the staff at my company during the next training day. This got boosted up to 2-3 hours, and I found out about it on Tuesday. The training day is Friday (tomorrow).

Anyway, part of the training includes some examples of when to return a computer for servicing. The major indicator is of course that if a computer is blue-screening, it probably isn’t doing so well :)

And so after searching google for a good BSOD photo I just gave up and lovingly typed out these two slides which serve as the opening for my training presentation. I hope that it’ll get a few mocking laughs when as soon as I start up the presentation my computer appears to crash ;)

So for those who were sat in #php, mostly mercutio who expressed an interest, here’s a zip with a couple of .ppt files of BSODs

Retro gaming ahoy! I now have an antique laptop!

Well, not strictly antique of course. During a clearout at work a few old laptops that were unable to do theri job any more were offered to staff, and I bught one of them (a P1 Panasonic Toughbook CF-27). Now comes the fun of demolishing the installed programs to give as much space as possible for classic games.

On the list are the older SCUM games (Day of the Tentacle, has to be done), Quarantine, maybe The Incredible Machine. Hey anything I can find, I’ll throw on.

It’s going to be awesome.

Aerosmith wallpaper from Graspop 2007

A little desktop wallpaper I put together from a couple of photos from Graspop. I think it works.

Graspop 2007

Well I got back from Graspop a couple of days ago. Finally got the photos of Aerosmith off my phone, so will write up a bit on here before too long (although I’m sure it’s the pictures that will be more interesting).

Had an awesome time, even though it was raining most the time. Watch this space.
